The East Preston United Baptist Church (EPUBC) is calling a Senior Pastor. As an Empowering People…United and Becoming like Christ, EPUBC is seeking a Senior Pastor who is a leader, preacher, challenger, trainer, teacher, resource, initiator, counselor and guide. The Senior Pastor will lead in the process of continuing to implement the EPUBC vision, and give leadership and supervision for implementing that vision through the various ministries of the church.

Key Accountabilities:

  1. Responsibilities

    • Regular Preaching and Teaching of Bible Study and various other classes
    • Primary Worship Leader
    • Pastoral Care and Counseling
    • Team-Building and Equipping
    • Conduct or Assign Weddings, Funerals, Baptisms
    • Conduct or Assign Licensures/Ordinations/Commissions
    • Conduct or Assign Baby Dedications and Other Dedications


  2. Leadership and Management

    • Church Ministry Leadership Development
    • Minister Training and Development
    • Deacon Training and Development
    • Youth Training and Development
    • Provide other Educational Training where needed
    • Congregational Care
    • Youth Special Care and Development
    • Special Care for Congregants with Special Needs – Empowerment Focus
    • Other Literacy and Empowerment Efforts


  3. Administration

    • Community and Governmental relationships
    • Academic Institutional and Corporate Alliances
    • Other public relations, Answers to inquiries from the Press, etc
    • Oversight of All Ministry Heads
    • General Oversight/Management of the Business and Finance of the church Management/Oversight of Office Staff
    • East Preston Empowerment Academy (EPEA) Board Membership and General Oversight of Day-to-Day Operations; Liaise between Church and EPEA Board
    • Development of Other Partnerships
    • AUBA Membership and Regular Participation
    • CBAC Membership and Regular Participation
    • Acadia Divinity School Alliance and Some Participation
    • Participation in other AUBA/Outside Church Ministries/Organizations as invited
    • NEW Building Committee Chair
    • Strive to meet the Qualifications set forth in the Leadership Covenant of EPUBC


  4. Position Requirements

    Education

    • Minimum Master of Divinity or an equivalent Theological or Religion Degree;
    • Ordination or on track for Ordination within one year
    • Doctorate Degree in Ministry or Christian Religious Studies, is considered an asset


Experience

• Demonstrated Organizational and/or Business Management skills
• Demonstrated Strong Communication Skills with people of all ages, races, etc.,
• Strong and demonstrated knowledge of technology use and awareness and use of social media and other mediums to communicate widely
• 5 years’ professional experience as a Senior Pastor of a similar size Congregation or in a salaried Pastoral-related/Ministry role OR equivalent managerial and oversight role in a non-Pastoral, but related organization
• Demonstrated leadership, administrative and organizational skills and abilities to work effectively with a diverse group of people. Proven examples to be shared.
